Judging from the women’s Haute Couture 2020 presentation, impossible isn’t a word that seems to exist in Christian Louboutin’s vocabulary. To unveil his latest collection, the designer took us from his beloved Paris all the way to Bhutan over the course of a single magical evening. Ambitious? Perhaps, but that’s just Christian.
The journey set off in a carnivalesque atmosphere from Paris, the city of light, with a stellar Loubi constellation, showcasing many new styles and innovations, including the state-of-the-art Levitation heel and the Maison’s new Elisa handbag. The new Elisa bag a celebration of ancient Egypt’s beauty and symbolism, Italian craftsmanship and French elegance.
There’s nothing quite as chic as train travel and to continue the journey, guests were invited to step aboard the Loubhutan Express’ plush red velvet interior for a cocktail (naturally!) and a first-class adventure. Next stop, Bhutan!
As Bhutan has long held Christian’s imagination captive, the Loubhutan capsule collection embodies rich symbolism and unique artistry of Bhutanese culture. Meticulously crafted, these stunning styles feature hand-sculpted wooden platforms, fine embroideries and hand-painted colour gradations, inspired by the changing skies over the snow-capped Himalayas.
As Christian says, “beauty should be synonymous with freedom” and the Spring/Summer 2020 presentation certainly proves anything is possible … with just a little imagination. So give yourself poetic license to dream - and dream big!
