Constructed from two individual pieces connected to form the split-toe – as opposed to the tradition of dividing the split from the toecap – this silhouette takes a cordate form alluding to a woman’s décolleté. This new shape imbues the Tabi with subtle sensuality, fusing tradition and innovation. Select styles are adorned with hand-made crystal encrustations.

Maison Margiela's couture aesthetic reinterprets Christian Louboutin's seductive silhouettes. The capsule explores the Maison’s signature notion of decortiqué, which signifies the reduction of a garment or accessory to its core structure. Meaning to ‘strip something of its outer layers’, the technique exposes the essential frames of an item normally hidden from view by cutting out any areas and layers but the seams, boning or closures that hold it together. Here, it is executed by hand, by partly peeling the black patent leather to reveal the shoe's layers.
